Ever thought about having your wedding reception at
dock o' the bay?
More and more couples are coming to us for their special day.
They all say it's because they want an informal, fun and relaxed wedding without all the rules that you get in a bigger venue..... and the price is much more reasonable.
The last thing you want is to feel cheated on your wedding day. Some places if you say the word "wedding" suddenly everything costs three times as much, well we keep the prices the same as our regular menu.
We make it very personal and do everything so the day is fun and stress free.
You will get a completely personal service from me, bridget. This starts from the initial phone call or email to meetings with you and your families right through to the day itself which I run from beginning to end.
I am always at the end of a phone or email and will happily answer any questions or worries you may have. I've even been known to do a bit of counselling in the week running up to the wedding!
We can do all sizes of weddings and either a sit down meal or a buffet.
To have dock o' the bay exclusively you will need to have 60 - 70 (you can fit a few more) for a sit down 3 course meal and anything over that, up to 120, for a buffet. We have menus and prices for both that we can discuss at our first meeting.

Private parties
We can cater for parties large or small.
We have a great private party room that seats up to 27 for a sit down meal or up to 35 for a buffet. It is separate while still part of the restaurant so doesn't lose any of the atmosphere.
We also have a new area that seats up to 20 for private dining and this is right in the heart of the restaurant. It opens onto the back sun terrace so fabulous in the summer and cosy and warm in the winter.
We can create party menus for you for any budget.
We only usually hire out the whole venue for weddings or large parties.

 Reviewed 29 January 2012 by john and elaine We had never eaten at Dock o’the Bay but needed a fun, laid-back wedding reception for 45 guests. Bridget is the owner and driving force behind Dock of the Bay, and as soon as I met her I knew everything would be fine. The food reviews on tripadvisor speak for themselves, but it’s much harder to produce quality meals en-masse. That particular task was achieved with flair and panache, but there was far, far more. From my demanding requests for entertainment through to the provision of gluten free food, and from the fantastic level of service given by every single member of her team to the way Bridget gave a lift in her own car to one of our entertainers … every aspect of the 9 hours we were at the restaurant was fun, stress free (for us!) and executed with military precision. The attention to detail, food, and quality of service are commensurate with quality restaurants, but at a very competitive cost. Perfect!

gary and catherine married september 2011 Reviewed 4 October 2011 We had our wedding reception meal here in early September.
We chose Dock as we'd had a few meals here and having done the legwork around Southampton for a suitable venue Dock came out on top.
Right from the outset we had personal attention from Bridget and her team (Richard was excellent). We chose our menu's so that our guests could choose in advance what they wanted to eat from a wide selection. So much better than other venues we tried with set meals! We had personal one - 2 - one attention and could contact Bridget by email or mobile at any time to discuss our wedding or ask questions etc.
The day was fantastic. The tables were set out beautifully - very good attention to detail. I handed over name places and other items the night before and it was all set up perfectly when we arrived.
Everyone commented on how lovely the food was. The day was truly superb.
Would definitely recommend the Dock for a wedding venue.

Dear Bridget
I just wanted to say thank you for providing a wonderful end to Alexandra and Tom's wedding day.
Your kindnesses (which were many throughout the evening) were very generous and sealed a wonderful day.
My mother , especially , still talks of her 'special' treatment - she felt like the Queen, with her own table.
This was also typified, by the way one of the young waitresses, seeing Tom's grandparents were not able to reach the buffet, not only brought the plated food to them, then went down to the buffet and brought up a plate of the other things for them to enjoy, so that as she said 'they did not miss out on anything'. This was unprompted and was another kindness.
Alexandra and Tom had a wonderful evening and felt they had nothing to worry about and could just relax and enjoy themselves.
The food was amazing and everyone, who was there, is still talking about the night.
As the Irish would say, the Craic was 'quare and grand'

Just wanted to say a big thank you to yourself and your team for helping make our wedding party such a great night. From the initial phone call through to the end of the night you were so friendly and relaxed we always knew we were in good hands. Everyone enjoyed the evening and lots of guests have particularly commented on how good the food was so hopefully you may see some new faces in the restaurant soon. Our only 'complaint' was that it was all over so quickly, which is always a sign of a fantastic night - we truely believe we couldn't have chosen a better venue to complete our wedding celebrations and honeymoon period.

14th june 2010 our search for our perfect wedding reception venue started in july 2009 for our wedding may 2010. we wanted an informal, friendly venue where our guests would feel comfortable.
after hours of searching the internet we stumbled accross dock o' the bay website. after reading the introduction into weddings we could not wait to arrange a meeting. we had driven past 100s of times but had never popped in for a drink or dinner.
we arranged a meeting and instantly loved the warm, friendly atmosphere. we met bridget and it was like we'd known her for years. unlike other places bridget was so flexible, nothing was set in stone. we chose our own 3 course menu and times that we wanted everything to take place. bridget guided us and offered suggestions but it was our decision at the end of the day.
throughout the build up, everything i asked bridget to do she did....nothing was too much trouble, bridget made it so easy for me.
on our wedding day we arrived at 4pm, bridget and her staff had decorated the venue in helium balloons, fairy lights and tea lights and also put up the marquee....it looked amazing, absolutely beautiful.....just what we had pictured.
from the moment we arrived bridget and her staff did not stop! they served a 3 course meal for 52 people followed by an evening buffet for 110 people and the food was absolutely outstanding. many of our guests are local and had never eaten at the restaurant, however they will certainly be returning.
whether you are looking for a wedding reception, party venue or a meal we cannot recommend dock o' the bay highly enough, fantastic food, friendly staff and a warm relaxed atmosphere, nothing is too much trouble....
bridget, i cannot thank you enough for everything you did to make our day perfect, we did have a perfect day, better than perfect in fact :-)
we certainly made the right decision when choosing dock o' the bay!

holly and erin - civil partnership - july 2010
we celebrated our civil partnership at dock o' the bay and couldn't have had a more perfect evening. we had a group of 25 people and took over the downstairs room of the restaurant. it was perfect for us and our occasion making it a comfortable and intimate setting.
the service was fantastic keeping watch over us whenever we needed anything and allowing for the bits of extra time we needed between courses.
they even let us hang around until late into the night well past when most places would have asked us to leave!
the food was wonderful, everything was cooked exceptionally well served straight away altogether so even as a group of 25 we were able to eat together without any delays or issues.
we hadn't planned to have a huge over the top event but they made it such a special night for us that we couldn't have asked for or expected a better experience anywhere.
everything ran like clockwork and really made the whole event. thankyou all for such a wonderful night!
holly and erin debbie - bob's surprise 60th - june 2010
i booked this restaurant for a surprise 60th party for 25 people. i hadn't been here before but heard good things about it and there was a private section where we could have our dinner party.
when we arrived the tables were decorated beautifully , there were balloons and ribbons and music. the food was lovely and everyone really enjoyed their all their courses and the staff were particularly great, so attentive and thoughtful and efficient.
i would recommend this venue to anyone who is looking for an experience with lovely food and atmosphere.
